All proceeds go to Bridging The Gap

What do you get when you cross Project Runway and Mahatma Gandhi? Perhaps Kate McKay, a junior at Pembroke Hill High School, who is changing the world with a needle and thread. For the second year in a row, Kate is designing and making 25 of her own original fashions, putting on a fashion show and donating the proceeds to a worthy local charity. This year, her show will benefit Bridging The Gap, Kansas City’s own environmental not-for-profit. The event will produce much-needed general administrative funds for BTG to continue with over a dozen programs to help Kansas City to “go green.”

The event itself will also be environmentally friendly. 100 percent of all the materials used are recycled. Environmentally-friendly vendors will be on hand and a drawing will be held for environmentally-friendly products like vegan hair care materials and more. Additionally, a silent auction will be held before and after the show, selling clothes, hair pieces and jewelry from the show.

Models for the show are teens from Pembroke Hill with hair by The Last Tangled, make up by Raysa Williams and environmentally-sound jewelry by Laura Sterchi.
